Just another opinion. The trip through the unfinished gravel/trail-type road is more interesting than the destination. Not much to see or do there once you get to it, distance views are pretty, not spectacular. The structure appears unsymmetrical up close like a short person w/a big head. Much better to view it from a distance. The little store/ranger station offers little other than minimal souvenirs, etc. but staff is friendly.
The views are spectacular! The cross is beautiful! The workers are very friendly! The drive is very scenic!
Whether one is a religious person (whichever faith) or not, definitely take time to visit this place. The views are breathtaking. It is beautiful and peaceful.

Had seen the Cross many times from a long distance, but today was the first time I had ever been down to the visitors station. It was very nice. Standing at the foot of the cross looking up we saw a rainbow. I took photos, the rainbow stayed behind the cross the entire time we were there....nearly 45 minutes. I was able to look up my father's name in a list of contributors who gave a hog so many years ago. I was touched by the awesome cross, the rainbow, the view and the memory of my parents giving a hog, which in those days was a very big deal when you were raising five little kids on a farm.
Very peaceful. Well kept. Nice staff. The scouts hiked there but I rode. The drive was a bit long but worth it. The view was breathtaking and one to remember.
